SASA is one of the world’s leading producers of polyester, fiber, filament yarn, polyester-based polymers, and specialty polymers.
With a strong sense of leadership in its sector, SASA successfully manages the entire value chain from design and production to distribution by combining its robust technical heritage and culture of innovation with high production capacity.
SASA commenced its production in the polyester industry in 1966. In 2015, following its acquisition by Erdemoğlu Holding, the company further strengthened its presence in international markets through new investments.
In 2000, aiming to reinforce its pioneering role in the polyester industry, SASA entered into a joint venture partnership with global chemical giant DuPont, operating under the name DupontSA. In 2004, following the acquisition of DuPont’s shares by Sabancı Holding, the name was changed to ADVANSA. Consequently, in 2005, the name of the Turkish operations was updated to ADVANSA SASA Polyester Sanayi A.Ş. In 2011, Sabancı Holding acquired all shares held by ADVANSA BV and renamed the company SASA in September 2011.
As of April 30, 2015, Sabancı Holding’s shares were acquired by ERDEMOĞLU Holding, resulting in a new shareholding structure of 51% Erdemoğlu Holding and 49% public. Following the mandatory tender offer completed in August 2015, Erdemoğlu Holding A.Ş.’s stake in SASA Polyester Sanayi A.Ş. increased to 84.80%.
Utilizing technologies from Dynamit Nobel, ICI, DuPont, Uhde Inventa-Fischer (UIF), Oerlikon Barmag, AC Automation, and INVISTA in its operations, SASA has a strong technical infrastructure supported by its high-capacity production facilities and its Research and Development Center established in 2002.
With a specialized workforce of approximately 4,000 employees, SASA operates one of the largest production facilities in the world, spanning 2,181,000 square meters in Adana, as well as a 56,000-square-meter raw material storage area in İskenderun. In addition, the company maintains liaison offices in Ankara and Istanbul. SASA ranks among the world’s leading polyester producers in the manufacturing of polyester chips, fiber, and filament yarn.
